This is a wider angle view of the former B&O's crossing of Illinois Highway 4, just south of Lebanon, IL on 12-21-2015. This view also looks north. The crossbucks are still in place (Railroad crossing) but the flashers were turned 90 degrees away from the highway and the protective arms have been removed. The sign says "Tracks out of service" and they have been, since around summer 2015. |

The flashing units have been rotated 90 degrees away from the highway traffic where Illinois Highway 4 crosses the former B&O line to St Louis. This view looks west, showing that the flashers are still in place, but the protective arms have been removed from the gates. I took this photo just before 5 pm on 12-21-2015. Sadly, the sun appears to be setting, also, on the future of this line. |

The text on this rail, applied perhaps by hand, reads "BAL 6-30-10 109" followed by what could be a degree mark or a symbol for a foot ('). I have no idea what this message is stating. This was the southmost rail, just south of Lebanon, IL on 12-21-2015. |

This rail had a message, perhaps on an adhesive label, stating "UT TEST" and "progress rail" in a vertical format. There also seem to be circles of various kinds on the label. It was dark and cold by the time I finished with these photos so I have no idea what other information, if any, was on the rail. This was the southmost rail on the former B&O line to St Louis, just south of Lebanon, IL on 12-21-2015. |

This portion of the B&O line to St Louis has been out of service since around summer 2015. I took this photo at the crossing of these tracks with Illinois Highway 4, just south of Lebanon, IL on 12-21-2015. Several years ago there was a CPL signal in this vicinity but it was taken down some time ago and no trace of it remains. Ironically, the sun has also appeared to set on this section of the track but I hope someday to see service restored. |
