Description:
BNSF 8706, like sister unit 8705, worked in Abilene, KS for quite some time. Here, this unit is paired with 8705 and a pair of SD40-2's. Note the shock absorber on the rightmost axle of each truck, the horns near the rear set of fans, the bell mounted to the frame, and the air conditioner on the cab roof. It was very warm when I took this photo and I'm sure the train crew was grateful for the a/c!
